What a Cracking Week!

27/02/2014

We have been so lucky this week; the weather has been great. Yes, we've had some frost and rain (mostly at night) but we've had lots of sunshine which has been really warm - we haven't had to don layers and waterproofs just to step outside the door. The birds are singing and the bluetits have been eyeing up the nesting boxes; the snowdrops and crocuses are in full bloom, even the daffodils are out - and it's only February. This has definitely been the place to be this week - let's hope it continues!

We've had a new visitor this week - this beautiful pheasant has been coming into the garden to feed with the ducks. We've still got the Mandarin duck and he comes regularly and is quite happy amongst the other ducks.

Better Weather

01/02/2014

This week has brought calmer weather, at least in this part of the country! We've had light winds, only a few rain showers (mostly at night) and even some sunshine. The snowdrops are up and the daffodils are not far behind. There are some daisies out on the lawn and even some of the roses have continued to bloom right through winter. The days are gradually getting longer and the birds are singing again. It really makes you feel that Spring might be on the way.

It's the 1 February and the snowdrops are out - is Spring on the way? Not sure - it's very windy and cold today and we've had heavy showers recently but nowhere near as bad as down South. We have been so lucky!!

Another few weeks and Spring will be here. Already the days are starting to get longer.
