Tour de Yorkshire Cycle Race

26/04/2015

The Tour de Yorkshire Cycle Race comes into Whitby on Friday. There are blue & yellow cycles and flags everywhere. It should be quite a day. Hope the weather is good.

Swimming lessons in the pond! Sadly we are down to 4 ducklings. They are just about 8 days old yet their lives can be very short! Here's hoping these 4 survive. Every day means they get bigger and stronger.

Duckling Update

13/04/2015

The ducklings are now 6 days old and are growing rapidly. Sadly from 13 we went down to 11 and today we're down to 7. This is nature's way and it happens with every batch - it's a dangerous world out there is you're a duckling. As each day passes they get bigger and stronger and have a better chance of survival.

A Baker's Dozen! Yes - there are 13 little ducklings. They arrived this morning. They are so tiny you wonder how they manage to climb up the river bank into the garden. Sadly, we know they wont all survive but we wish them luck.

Duck News

31/03/2015

The ducks are conspicuous by their absence! The ladies must be sitting on nests incubating eggs as they are rarely seen at the moment and the boys are wandering round with nothing to do - except eat, of course. There will probably be some ducklings in the near future. Look out for photos of the new arrivals.

Great Easter Weather

31/03/2015

Well, who would have believed it! What a lovely Easter weekend it has been - warm & sunny, just a little sea fret on Sunday morning. A real change from the usual cold, wind and rain (even snow) that we usually get. Did manage to spend a few hours in the garden, planting spuds and peas. Earlier sowings are now starting to appear and of course the grass needs cutting again. Let's hope it's here to last!
