What a Wet Week!

What a wet dreary week this has been.  Even the ducks are bored!!  Hoping for an improvement by the weekend.

A new batch of ducklings arrived yesterday - 4 yesterday but sadly down to 3 today.  fingers crossed for the rest!

In spite of having a river at the edge of the garden, a garden pond and bowl of fresh water, the ducks are drinking from the watering can! Good job I don't use any chemicals!

We had an unusual visitor today. He was bigger than the other ducks and brown & white. Obviously a duck but not sure what kind.

Spotted this little chap in one of the compost bins at the bottom of the garden.

What a difference a couple of days makes! After a dry winter and spring the river level was very low - you could almost walk across it at low tide. Then after 2 days of heavy rain, the river is full again.

It's at this time of year that the wildlife area is at its best. The wild flowers are in bloom, the birds are nesting and the bees and butterflies are out. A truly peaceful, secluded haven.
