The blue tits are nesting again in the box at the bottom of the garden. You can just see one of the chicks inside the box being fed by the parent (don't know if it's mum or dad). They are so quick, going backwards and forwards to the nest box. I stood for ages with the camera poised, waiting to catch the shot. Every so often the camera goes off and that's when the bird appears. By the time I've got it switched on again and set up, the bird has flown

The new camera has arrived! Took a bit of sorting out (they are so technical these days) but I'm getting the hang of it now. Hopefully there will be more photos to share.

Half Term

Our visitors left this morning and the cottage has been cleaned. Strangely we have no booking for this week, in spite of it being a Bank Holiday Weekend and School Half Term Week. So I'm offering a bargain of 20% off for any dates booked between 23-29 May inclusive - can be 2, 3 4,5,6 or 7 nights. Give me a call - the cottage is ready & waiting!!

No Camera!!

It's always the same - you see the best photo opportunities when you don't have your camera handy! I managed to drop mine on the tiled kitchen floor the other day. Picking it up, it looked OK but as it doesn't work I must have smashed something inside (nothing survives our kitchen floor!).

I'm now waiting for my new camera to arrive. Can't wait - except it'll probably take me ages to work out how to use it - I'm not very technically minded. Watch this space for the next batch of photos - then there'll be nothing to photograph.

Time Marches On!

Already we are well into May. The Tour de Yorkshire, the General Election and the birth of the Royal Baby are all behind us now. The days are getting longer and the weather is improving, albeit rather slowly, it has to be said. Everything in the garden is sprouting up on a daily basis, the birds are nesting, the swallows have arrived and summer really does seem to be on the way.

What better time to be thinking of booking a short break, or a longer summer holiday. Check our availability and prices and call or email to be sure you get the dates you want. The Spring Half Term week is still available (23-30 May) - 7 nights @ £460.

Tour de Yorkshire

The Tour de Yorkshire Cycle Race came through our area last Friday. The weather was kind and many people turned out to see the event. The TV coverage was good and gave excellent coverage of the local area in and around Whitby and on the surrounding moors.

If you have never visited this part of England, it is well worth a visit with a wide variety of things to see and do - suiting young and old, no matter what your interests are.

We look forward to seeing you - give me a call and book the cottage to experience what we have to offer!
