Half Term

October begins this week and it's time to plan for the half term holiday. I have vacancies and they are offered at the low season rate - a reduction of 25%. The weather can still be good in October and there's lots to see and do to keep the children occupied and the sea air makes everyone feel good.

Autumn's Here!

Autumn's here - well it is the end of September. Cool & misty first thing this morning but what a cracking day - lots of sunshine and really warm with hardly any wind. Even picked some brambles and had apple & bramble crumble for tea!

Now is the time to book that autumn break - just a weekend, a few days or even a week. Things are a bit quieter but there is still lots to do and see. If the weather is not so good, you can stay in the cosy cottage and watch that DVD or read that book you've been promising yourself for months. Just enjoy the peace & quiet and have a relaxing break away from the everyday routine.

Don't forget - I'm offering all October dates at the low season prices - that's a reduction of 25%.

Spotted this lovely bird on the kitchen roof this afternoon. Not very good with birds, so had to get the book out. I think it's a Sparrowhawk - any other suggestions? Then spotted this heron on the island in the middle of the river. A good day for the birds - makes a change from ducks!!

Sir Nigel Gresley

The North Yorkshire Moors Railway is staging a Farewell Weekend to the steam locomotive Sir Nigel Gresley on 19-20 September. The engine then goes off for a major overhaul and will be away some time.

Special Offer

I am offering a 10% discount on all September and October dates. Book now to take advantage.

Found this bird's nest in the wood store today. Sadly was abandoned earlier in the summer. Superbly built though with grasses and moss - puts most modern builders to shame!

The ducklings are growing day by day. They should be big enough now to survive. They are certainly eating plenty!!

The late summer Bank Holiday is now behind us and schools re-open over the next week or so. Now is the time to book your Autumn break, be it a short break or a full week.

Often the weather changes as the schools go back. Although we've not had a brilliant summer, autumn days are growing shorter but the weather can be great and there is still lots to do and see.

I look forward to taking your booking and welcoming you into the cottage.
